A Day In The Yard For San Quentin Inmates
San Quentin gets high ratings from many prisoners for its unique programs and opportunities.
San Quentin houses some of the most notorious criminals in the State of California, including those on death row.
Many other inmates regard San Quentin as one of the best facilities in the California Department of Corrections system. Some inmates say they were transferred to San Quentin from other institutions as a reward for their continued good behavior.
San Quentin offers some special programs, including sports, arts, education, media and theater with the cooperation of volunteers in the surrounding communities. When the Bryan Brothers world champion tennis team came to visit San Quentin recently, reporters and cameramen from the prison newspaper were there.

Yes but...Lots of the valued programs have been cut due to lack of funds. Namely the education programs run by the prison and the Father's program run by Marin Literacy. It was such a valuable program teaching the fellows how to relate to their children by reading to them that encompassed parenting skills, literacy skills, values, communication and discipline. We saw so many life changes with the prisoners and even with the children in the visiting rooms. Do investigate ways to volunteer in SQ by calling 454 1460 Ex. 5400.

The average person only sees San Quinten as we drive by. The photos offered a birds eye view behind the scene. I know they have a tennis and baseball program. Can you tell us more? I would also like to see more photos.
