Literature Inspires Song At Book Passage

Around Town Feb. 13-14: Also, Larkspur Planning Commission meets Tuesday; Who will win the MCAL basketball title? The race starts Tuesday.

 

 

• Author Amy Franklin-Willis adds a new note to her novel The Lost Saints of Tennessee, with the help of Castro Valley songwriter Andrew Castro. The duo will visit Book Passage in Corte Madera on Monday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. Franklin-Willis asked Castro to compose music inspired by her story of a Southern working class family.

• We already know Redwood High School will be the site of the Marin County Athletic League basketball championships. We'll find out starting Tuesday, Feb. 14, which teams will square off for the title this weekend. The fourth-seeded Redwood girls host No. 5 Justin-Siena at 5 p.m. On the boys side, the Giants are the fifth seed playing at No. 4 Justin-Siena at 7:30 p.m.

• The Larkspur Planning Commission meets Tuesday, Feb. 14, to consider an application by the homeowners to tear down a house at 11 Heather Way and to build a new house on the property.


• By the way, the Corte Madera Planning Commission, normally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 14, has been cancelled.

• In a Valentine's Day salute to love gone wrong, the Lark Theater is showing George Clooney's The Descendants this week. A good movie, but will it win Clooney an Academy Award?
