The Forecast Calls For Sun, So Get Out Of The House

Weekend Planner Jan. 6-8: Go enjoy the park, the local shops and restaurants, or take a tip from these suggestions.

It's the first full weekend of 2012, so what are you gonna do to celebrate? Watch football or hockey? Clean the house? Well, here are a few other suggestions to help you plan your weekend:

• Join the fun at Sonoma's Infineon Raceway for John's March Against Gastric Cancer. It's a great chance to get out in the sunshine for the walk of a lifetime — 2.52 miles around the race track. The suggested $40 donation goes to fund research for a cure for gastric cancer. Arrive by 9 a.m. Saturday.

• You and the kids can rock out with Dr. Elmo at the Marin Country Mart farmers market on Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Meanwhile, there's plenty of shopping and great food available.

• Enjoy a free cardio class hosted by Lululemon Athletica on Saturday, 9 p.m.

• Take the kids to Book Passage on Sunday for Storytime with Christopher Smith and his guitar.

• Looking for a choice of exotic foods all in one location? The food trucks arrive at Marin Country Mart every Sunday afternoon.
