• Ah yes, it is October, so it must be time for Oktoberfest. Well, check out the Corte Madera version Saturday from noon-5 p.m. at Old Corte Madera Square, Redwood Avenue & Tamalpais Drive. The Town Band will help get things started at noon, with music from Tom Torriglia (1:30 p.m.) and Lazy Horse (3 p.m.) to follow. There will be offerings from 14 breweries and one winery, along with food from local restaurants. • Winter returned with a vengeance this week. Commuters faced wet roads and strong winds early in the week, leading to a number of fender-benders in Marin and Sonoma counties. There were no reports of power outages or serious damage due to the winter storm. The storm also left snow on top of Mt. Tamalpais, much to the delight and surprise of Marin residents. Another storm system is expected to hit Monday, raising concerns of possible flooding.• The Marin Municipal Water District has a lot to consider now. Here are some of the events that grabed headlines in the Twin Cities during the past week: • Redwood High School welcomed a group of music students from Beijing Wenhui Middle School as part of a cultural exchange Thursday. The day appeared to spark some friendships as the students enjoyed music and lunch together.• Redwood High School's boys basketball team wrapped up the regular season with back-to-back wins over Justin-Siena and Novato. The girls squad also ended the regular season on a high note with a win over Novato. Both teams open the Marin County Athletic League playoffs Tuesday.• …
