Stephen Sondheim has been the leading composer of musical theatre for past fifty years. This award-winning revue of his earlier work and a smash hit on Broadway, offers some of the lush and unforgettable songs presented by five talented musical artists on stage at the Lark Theater. “Send in the Clowns” from A Little Night Music; “Side by Side” and “Company” from Company; plus “I’m Still Here” and “Broadway Baby” from Follies; as well as classics written with musical theatre giants, Leonard Bernstein, Jule Styne and more.

9 am – 1pm Spring Plant Swap with Seed &amp; Soul Club
Located in the Picnic Grove at Marin Art and Garden Center, this annual event is an opportunity to grow your collection and share with other enthusiasts; bring cuttings, plants, pots and accessories to swap. Registration ($26.50) is required but you don’t have to bring plants to swap. 11 am – 3pm Marin Art and Garden Center’s Annual Plant Sale
Shop a selection of plants for your garden, including native milkweed to create Monarch butterfly habitat. Many of the plants have been propagated right here at MAGC, and you’ll have the expert advice of Garden Manager Michael Bogart and his team to help you make the right selection for your needs. All proceeds from the sale go right back to support the gardens!
11am – 6pm - Marin Open Studios art in The Studio

Join author Richard H. Lawrence, Jr., at Book Passage Corte Madera on Saturday May 11, 2024, at 1:00 pm PT, as he discusses his latest book, “Carbon Done Correctly.” 
 
In the fight against climate change, the world cannot wait for some hoped-for perfect solution in the future. The crisis is upon us, and we need action now. We need as many different strategies, tools, and ideas as possible; and we need them working right away. We need an all-of-the-above solution. One such solution is the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM). The VCM is not the solution to climate change. But it is a solution. In “Carbon Done Correctly,” Richard H. Lawrence, Jr. introduces the VCM through the lens of unsung heroes around the globe who are on the front lines of the fight against climate change. You will be inspired by the stories of the work that people are doing to combat climate change, and you will see how the VCM provides an essential tool in helping them, and other people in the future, continue and improve that work for the benefit of our planet. 
 
About the Author
Richard H. Lawrence, Jr., is a director and co-founder of several non-profit organizations with specific focus on climate change mitigation. In 2004 Richard and his wife, Dee, founded Proyecto Mirador Foundation, a non-profit that has built over 300,000 fuel-efficient stoves in rural communities across Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua. In 2016 the Lawrences founded Cool Effect, a non-profit online platform that enables individuals, SMEs and Fortune 500 companies to offset their carbon emissions through the highest quality carbon reduction projects worldwide. In 2017 they established High Tide Foundation, a non-profit organization involved in the fight against climate change. In 2020 Richard founded the non-profit Carbon Mapper, which develops satellite technology to pinpoint and track point source emissions, particularly methane. In 2021 he helped establish Global Methane Hub with over $200 million in philanthropic funds to support methane advocacy and mitigation.
