Corte Madera's Hanging Flower Baskets Are Here!

On Friday, May 4th, a total of 47 colorful hanging flower baskets were delivered by truck from Country Garden Nursery in McMinville, Oregon, for installation on poles in prominent locations in Corte Madera.  This is the 18th year that the Beautification Committee has purchased the baskets, which have become a local icon, using funds donated by public-spirited individuals and businesses, along with proceeds from the BC's annual Oktoberfest event.

Over the years, this family-owned nursery in Oregon <http://www.countrygardennursery.com/> has been able to determine which mixture of flowering plants will thrive in Corte Madera's various micro-climates, so individual baskets are especially planted for specific locations that have sun-with-wind, shade-with-wind, and so forth.  This makes it possible for the baskets to retain their splendor from the beginning of May through the end of the year, and to be a source of delight to residents and visitors alike.

Donations to the hanging flower basket program are tax-deductible and can be sent to the Beautification Committee, P.O. Box 340, Corte Madera CA 94976.  Checks should be made out to the Corte Madera Community Foundation, which is the fiscal sponsor of the Beautification Committee, with a notation that the donation is for the flower baskets.

Prop 37 would have exempted "organic" food from the labeling requirement. What sense doesRead More that make? (Answer: none.)
