Corte Madera's summer concert series at Piccolo Pavilion wraps up Sunday.

 

Here are some of the highlights happening around the Larkspur and Corte Madera Twin Cities area August 24-46:

The Piccolo Park Summer Concert Series wraps up Sunday with a performance by Bubba's Taxi. The party gets started at 5 p.m. Bring a blanket and a picnic and get ready for a fun evening at the old Corte Madera town pavilion.

The series was sponsored by the Corte Madera Community Foundation.

Solid Air will offer up its folksy sounds Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Town Center Corte Madera.

• Nature Hike: Join Dave Herlocker for a guided walk through Cascade Canyon on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The walk will focus on the upper canyon wherethere should be plenty of birds. Call the Friends of Corte Madera Creek at (415) 893-9527 after 7 a.m. on the day of the event for a recorded message in case the event is to be canceled.

Free Concert: Rock to the sounds of The Courtney Janes on Friday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Marin Country Mart, part of the weekly concert series.

• Poetry Reading: Susan Kirsch and Jane Mellor will read some of their recently-published poems at Book Passage in Corte Madera on Saturday at 1 p.m.

• Walk For Fun, Exercise: The Larkspur Walkers welcome you to join them on walks that start and finish at Piper Park. The group walks approximately 3 miles within an hour, and routes include some hills and easements staircases as well as level ground.  Meet at the east end of the parking lot, near the picnic area. Arrive 5 minutes early for easy warm-up exercises before the walk. If you would like to join the Larkspur Walkers, contact the Larkspur Recreation Department or come directly to Piper Park and ask for Nancy Spivey, leader of the group. There is a $15 fee.
