Daily Planner: Develop Your Writing Skills

Around Town July 26-27: Join the California Writers Club; Dive into the history of the Mt. Tam Watershed; Learn campfire cooking.

The Marin Branch of the California Writers Club will bring its traveling show to Larkspur on Thursday, from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Larkspur City Hall.

Writers who will read short pieces from their work are: Nancy Au, Marcia Naomi Berger, Claudia Chapline, Jo Haraf, Joyce Kleiner, Patricia L. Morin, Leda Sanford, Susanna Solomon, and Lynette Willis. Readings will include memoirs, fiction, and poetry. The California Writers Club welcomes new members at any stage in their writing.

• Local author, historian and Marin Municipal Water District Director Jack Gibson will present a new book, “Mount Tamalpais and the Marin Municipal Water District” at a special event on Thursday, July 26, 7 p.m. at Book Passage in Corte Madera.

• The family that exercises together gets healthy together, right? The Larkspur Recreation Department is offering a family-friendly yoga class Thursdays, from July 26 through August 30 at 4 p.m. The class brings the whole family together to increase flexibility, strength and coordination while decreasing stress and fatigue. Drop in classes are available. Class is open to anyone ages 5 and up!

• Take cooking out of the kitchen with an introduction to campsite cooking at REI in the Town Center. Learn what ingredients and cooking supplies to pack when you go camping. The free class starts at 7 p.m. Thursday.

• The National Academy of Sports is hosting its Pass, Run, Catch Flag Football Camp along with Larkspur Recreation on Friday. The non-contact, camps are the perfect introduction to football. Emphasis will be on proper conditioning and warm-ups, footwork drills, agility, passing, receiving, and game strategies. Pre-registration is required. Camp is for children ages 7-12 years old. Half day camp is available from 9 a.m. to noon for $110.00
