Daily Planner: Expose The Criminal Mind

Book Passage kicks off its Mystery Writers Conference on Thursday.

Book Passage in Corte Madera celebrates the masters of crime, with the Mystery Writers Conference which begins Thursday and continues through the weekend.

The conference kicks off Thursday with a pair of classes. David Corbett analyzes one of hte great crime stories with "Deconstructing Chinatown," at 1 p.m. D.P. Lyle will also lead a pair of classes that look at motives, characters and more. Note: There is a fee for these classes. Register through Book Passage.

The day continues at 3:30 p.m. with the first workshop of the conference. There will be a free event open to the public Thursday at 7:30 p.m. with Tarquin Hall, author of The Case of the Deadly Butter Chicken.

• Origami napkin swans? Now that's a good thing. Drop by the Corte Madera Library on Thursday at 2 p.m. to learn the intricate art of origami. It can be such a relaxing and meditative hobby, but many people have also turned origami into a business. The class is for anyone ages 8 and older.

• Larkspur Recreation is offering Kindermusik with Andrea on Friday at 9 a.m. Register through the Larkspur Recreation Department. Kindermusik is a developmentally appropriate music and movement class that enhances your child's total development through song, dance, instrument, exploration, and so much more. The classes include materials you can take home and keep! Class Times: Newborn-1 1/2 years- 9:00am-9:45am 1 1/2 years-3 years- 10:00am-10:45am 3 years-5 years- 11:00am-11:45am. Please remember registration is required. There are various different sessions throughout the year.
