Daily Planner: Saving Mt. Tam Watershed

Around Town July 25-26: Discover the history behind creating and preserving the Mt. Tam Watershed with a new book to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Marin Municipal Water District.

Local author, historian and Marin Municipal Water District Director Jack Gibson will present a new book, “Mount Tamalpais and the Marin Municipal Water District” at a special event on Thursday, July 26, 7 p.m. at Book Passage in Corte Madera.

The pictorial history (from the mid 1800s through today) tells the story of the formation of the Marin Municipal Water District in 1912 and includes dozens of archived photos that have not previously been publicly available. The book also explains the founders' commitment to the preservation of Mt. Tamalpais and how that idea was central to their vision for the new district. The book was written to commemorate MMWD's 100th anniversary.
