Harvest Time Is Here!

National Gleaning Day is Sunday at County Line Harvest.

Want to get your hands dirty? National Gleaning Day is Sunday and Marin Organic is inviting volunteers to join together at County Line Harvest farm, from 2-4 p.m., followed by a community potluck.

For those who haven't been gleaning before, it's a great chance to see what a farm is really like and to explore different kinds of crops. If the only kind of green you're used to is the lettuce in your salad, then see how some arugula can spice up your dish.

But you've got to get your hands into the soil to really discover the richness of farm-fresh produce. Local schools and food banks benefit from these gleaning projects, when volunteers harvest some of the leftover crops.

The Marin Organic Glean Team harvests extra food from the fields of member farms every Wednesday and provides it to local schools and food banks, enabling more people throughout the California Bay Area to have access to local organic foods. Volunteers are always welcome.

RSVP for Sunday's fun with Scott at Marin Organic at scott@marinorganic.org.
