Hearts, Fashion and Charity This Weekend

Here are some of the highlights happening around the Larkspur and Corte Madera Twin Cities area August 31 to September 3:

Book Passage in Corte Madera. The name kind of says it all, it's a book store. Well, there are more than books on display at the popular community hangout.

Ann Garrett, a Marin County author and artist, will show her watercolors in the store's gallery, highlighted by the unveiling on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 10 p.m. Many of her pieces follow a heart-shaped theme. The show continues through Nov. 30, with an artist's reception on Nov. 2.

• Island Swing: Bay Area band Sage will be rocking Marin Country Mart's main courtyard Friday, starting at 5 p.m. Kick off the Labor Day weekend with the island sounds of the ukulele. Sage has recently performed in San Francisco at the Red Devil Lounge.

• Walk For Fun, Exercise: Sloat Garden Center sites are hosting local food drives. The nearest Sloat is located on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Kentfield. Bring any unopened can or box of food to the garden center between Sept. 1-30. Please, no glass containers.

• Story Time: Scott the Storyteller will take center stage at the Town Center in Corte Madera on Sunday, from 2-4 p.m.

• New Faces: Stars Model Management will be holding an open call for boys and girls ages 13–21.
