Hospice By The Bay Offers Special Service

Memorial on Saturday to remember loved ones, share grief and find strength with others; Larkspur Library to host craft project.

Here are some of the highlights happening around the Larkspur and Corte Madera Twin Cities area Nov. 30-Dec. 3:

Hospice By The Bay will host its annual Service of Remembrance on Saturday, Dec. 1, to honor the memories of our loved ones. The service is free and includes inspirational messages, music, ritual and prayer. Attendees are welcomed to display photographs or objects of remembrance to honor loved ones. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.

• Holiday Craft Projects: Join paper artist Julie Schmidt at the Larkspur Library for an afternoon of fun and crafts. Adults and kids ages 8 and older are invited to a seasonal papercraft workshop to make fabulous holiday cards and decorations. The library will supply all the materials, you bring the creativity! Space is limited and RSVPs are required.

• Literary Salon: Book Passage hosts the monthly Left Coast Writers Literary Salon on Monday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. Husband-wife authors Ausbert de Arcé and Petra Mason take the spotlight this time around. De Arcé is the founder of Assouline Publications and Taschen America. Mason, a photographer and designer, is the author of Bunny Yeager’s Darkroom: Pin-up Photography’s Golden EraBunny Yeager’s Darkroom: Pin-up Photography’s Golden Era.

Author Linda Watanabe leads the monthly literary salons, which feature local writers. The fee includes membership in the Left Coast Writers.

• Free Haircuts: Barber Lane at Marin Country Mart is offering free haircuts through the end of December for children ages 12 and younger. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call (415) 419-5260.

• Examining The Beatles: College of Marin instructor Richie Unterberger is taking a fresh look at one of history's greatest rock bands with his new book The Unreleased Beatles: Music and Film. Unterberger offers a preview on Monday, Dec. 3 with two hours of rare clips and photos spanning the band's career. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Larkspur Library.
