Kids Taste Town Center

Restaurants at Corte Madera Town Center provide free fun tastes for the community

It was a beautiful sunny Saturday for the 3rd Annual Taste of Town Center Event.  Restaurants had tables set up with complimentary samples of some of their most popular dishes.  And, there was free face painting and balloon twisting for the kids.

Amelia, 11, of San Rafael was at Taste of Town Center for the first time.  She came with her mom, “…because we were going to REI and then we were hungry so we came out here…I tasted California Pizza Kitchen, spring rolls (from P.F. Chang’s), and a drink from Starbucks…it’s all good!  I really like the chips from Pacific Catch too!”

When I asked friends, Hannah and Kaia, both 7 years old, why they came today, Hannah shared, “…to eat lunch and taste things…”  When I asked them what their favorite places to eat were at Town Center, Hannah said, “I like the chicken teriyaki at Pacific Catch and Ciao Bella!”  Kaia added, “I like Ciao Bella and Starbucks hot chocolate…”

Kids lined up at Ciao Bella for ice cream, California Pizza Kitchen for brownies and pizza, Champagne Bakery for sugar cookies, and chocolate chip cookies from the Barnes & Nobles café.  Hannah had just finished a cookie from Barnes & Nobles and told me, “You HAVE to try a cookie…”  Her friend Kaia added, “they are amazing!!”  After some more tastes Hannah and Kaia were on their way to P.F. Chang’s for lunch.

People of all ages were enjoying the complimentary delicious samples from the many eateries of Town Center.  And on this warm spring day children enjoyed playing with the water spouting from the infamous elephant fountain in front of A.G. Ferrarri, where cheese samples were being handed out.

Lines were long for balloon twisting and face painting.  Smiles were seen on the faces of little ones as they played with their balloon creations.  An eight year old girl was swinging her butterfly balloon high in the air and was heard saying, “my butterfly is super excited!”  And so were many of the kids tasting at the 3rd Annual Taste of Town Center Event.

Until next time, remember, it’s all “for the love of kids…"

In joy, Marilyn
