What's Opera, Doc?

Around Town March 2-3: Scoop up some entertainment and some free ice cream to start your week.

So maybe the only opera you've seen starred Buggs Bunny and Elmer Fudd, that's OK. It's one of my favorites too.

If you're looking to delve a little deeper into the world of opera, or if you just a refresher, join James Sokol at the Lark Theater on Tuesday, April 3, for a 1 p.m. showing of La Traviata. Sokol, who has worked with the San Francisco Opera, leads a workshop discussion of the classic tale. The fee is $27.

• Going to the doctor's office can be a pain in the, well, you know where. Paying the bills can hurt even more, but laughter is the best medicine. Join Hogan Gorman, author of Hot Cripple, as she takes a revealing and hilarious look at the flaws in our health care system. She'll be at Book Passage in Corte Madera on Monday at 7 p.m.
