Pumpkin Patch Play

Kids love playing amongst the pumpkins at Bon Air Center

It’s October and fall is in the air.  Ian’s Pumpkin Patch at in Greenbrae is filled with pumpkins large and small.  There are plenty of bales of hay to sit on and kids of all ages are choosing their pumpkins, then racing to one of the two jumpy houses to enjoy unlimited play.

Eliana, 6, lives in Greenbrae, and has been coming to this pumpkin patch, “…since I was one!…every year they change the jumpies…and I like jumpies…and once my mom, my brother and my sister and me went on a rainy day here and the jumpy was filled with water…like 3 feet high…and all of us got to jump in the water…”  She told me she comes, “the whole October…every day!”

Emily, 8 ½ and Elise, 8, are neighbors and came to spend time together picking pumpkins and having fun in the jumpy houses.  They both chose mini pumpkins, because as Emily said, “I liked it because it was short and round…I’m going to draw on it with sharpies…”  Elise told me, “I want to cook it and get the pumpkin seeds out of it…”

They both loved the jumpy houses.  Emily liked the obstacle part and Elise liked the slides.  Kids are able to use the jumpies for an unlimited amount of time for $3 or $5 (depending on which jumpy).

The mini pumpkin patch drew lots of attention.  As the children approached there were lots of ooohs and ahhhs.  One child was heard saying, “look how cute…they’re so small… can I have one?”

The pumpkin patch was bustling with little ones running through and families choosing their pumpkins for the season. One boy was so happy when he found a large green pumpkin. A family of 5 chose many pumpkins and gourds of all sizes to carve and decorate their home and front porch.

Vivian, 3, lives in Kentfield, and loved putting a little pumpkin on her head, as she posed for a picture, then took two little pumpkins and made ears.  And, Cal, 3, with pacifier in mouth, was happy to pose with his mini pumpkin.

October is here, which means Halloween is approaching, children will be seen wearing their costumes (even before Halloween night) and pumpkin patches abound.

Be sure to take the family and stop by Ian’s Pumpkin Patch at Bon Air Center in Greenbrae for your seasonal pumpkins and lots of jumpy house FUN!

Until next Wednesday, remember, it’s all “for the love of kids…”

In joy, Marilyn
