Tons Of Fun

Kids have lots of fun at Corte Madera Recreation Center every Monday during Kids Power Hours

There is non stop play every Monday from 10:30 am to 12 pm and 12:30 pm to 2 pm during Kids Power Hours at the Corte Madera Recreation Center.  The large bright gymnasium area is transformed into a colorful play area for kids ages 0-6 years.

This fun-filled program features an inflatable jumpy, toddler bouncy zone, tumbling mats, art station, cars, toys, balls, basketball hoops, fun games, an area for tots ages 0-2, flat screen television with cartoons, and even complimentary coffee for adults and some munchies for the kids.

Jenny Ferrari, works with Kids Power Hours.  As she was supervising the kids on the play floor she told me, “We are here to make this program about the kids…we want them to have fun, we want the parents to have fun…I’m so passionate about this because it’s such a great idea and this area doesn’t have anything like this…”

There is upbeat fun music on the sound system and plenty of space for kids to run, jump and release lots of energy.  Two 5 year old boys were tumbling, running, laughing and playing.  They took a quick break to check in with their parents for a sip of water, then back to the play floor for some serious playing.

Moms were playing peek-a-boo in the giant caterpillar as kids jumped and laughed.  With a big smile on her face Ellie was heard saying, “I want to be in there…”  She took a turn inside saying boo to the other children as lots of giggles were heard.

Tracy the Animal Guy with Fur, Scales and Tails did a live animal performance on their opening day 3 weeks ago.  On Monday, February 13, Megan with Music Time With Megan will be performing.  They are always looking for children’s performers to entertain at the Kids Power Hours and parents to help with the program.

Ava, 5, was there for the first time with her sister, Ellie, 2 ½ . Ava was taking a break from running and jumping when I found her coloring at the art station.  I asked her why she liked it at Kids Power Hours and with her cheeks still flush from activity, she summed it up by saying, “…cause there’s playing here!”

You are welcome to join other families in your community as they have tons of fun at the Kids Power Hours at the Corte Madera Recreational Center.

Until next Wednesday, remember, it’s all “for the love of kids…”

In joy, Marilyn
