Twin Cities Community To Honor Its Veterans

Around Town May 30-31: American Legion Post 313 opens its doors in a celebration Thursday.

At the heart of downtown Larkspur, literally, is American Legion Post 313.

The American Legion sponsors local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, Little League and sponsors joint programs with the Larkspur Community Association.

Discover what else the American Legion does in the community during Thursday's Veterans Gathering, 5-10 p.m., at 500 Magnolia Ave. The hall, located across from Left Bank, also serves as a community gathering place.

The Legion reaches out to veterans as part of its mission. Thursday's open house is a chance for veterans and guests to enjoy an evening of comaraderie. Get to know local veterans from WWII to The Gulf War, Afghanistan and the War on Terrorism.

• Get connected with local services, including Twin Cities Police and fire agencies, during Thursday's Adult and Senior Fair at the Corte Madera Community Center at 1 p.m. Find out where to get help with legal, medical and financial forms or documents. Thinking about moving? Someone can walk you through the entire process. You can even talk to a declutter expert. This is a FREE event.

• If you can't make it on Tuesday, visit Giggle in The Village on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. for interactive storytelling: a fun way to develop your child's imagination and foster a love of reading.

• Have you been berry picking lately? Drop by the Corte Madera farmers market every Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m. There's a colorful bounty of strawberries, raspberries and even blueberries right now, with blackberries on the way. Try them for breakfast or on a bowl of vanilla ice cream for dessert.
