Weekend Planner: Puppets, Puppies and More

Take a guided tour into local history; read to a dog; enjoy a puppet show.

Join the Larkspur Library on Saturday at 11 a.m. for a lively puppet show suitable for the whole family, Tommy's Space Adventure" presented by Puppet Art Theater. Tommy loves books about outer space and space aliens, and his greatest wish is to someday meet a real live space alien. Little did Tommy know his wish was about to come true! • Children are invited to sign up for a chance to read a story to a dog from the Marin Humane Society at the Corte Madera Library on Saturday at 2 p.m. These dogs are great listeners!  Call or visit the Library to sign up. The dogs have gone through the Special Human-Animal Relationships Program at the Marin Humane Society.  Through SHARE, the dogs go to nursing homes, hospitals, schools, libraries, special day classes and children’s centers.

• Dive into the history of Larkspur with a guided tour of St. Patrick's Church on Saturday at 4 p.m. See all of the distinctive features of this 71 year old building, among the oldest in Larkspur.

• Aminta Arrington uprooted her army husband and three young children from suburban Georgia to a small town in China with the hopes of understanding the country, its long civilization, ancient philosophy, and complex language. She shares her insights about China in her book Home Is a Roof over a Pig, which she'll present at Book Passage in Corte Madera on Sunday at 7 p.m.
