The Marin County Free Library, along with City Public Libraries of Marin County, , Dominican University of California, and Community Partners, is pleased to announce the 2011 One Book One Marin reading program with the selection of Abraham Verghese's Cutting For Stone ($15.95). During the coming months, Verghese's work will be read throughout Marin County in a wide-ranging series of events. This is the fifth year of this amazing literary program. One Book One Marin began in 2006 with Isabel Allende. Since then it has celebrated the work of Amy Tan, Dave Eggers, and Michael Chabon.

Many community partners will collaborate over the coming weeks to present interesting programming and events related to Verghese's book. One Book One Marin provides readers with a shared and intimate literary experience focused around Cutting For Stone.

Cutting For Stone is the type of book that is certain to encourage a community-wide dialogue. Marion and Shiva Stone are twin brothers born in Ethiopia of a secret union. Orphaned by their mother's death and their father's disappearance, bound together by a preternatural connection and a shared fascination with medicine, the twins come of age as Ethiopia hovers on the brink of revolution. Verghese is also the author of My Own Country and The Tennis Partner.

One Book One Marin 2011 will culminate with a reading and discussion with Abraham Verghese at Dominican University of California on Wed., Apr. 27 at 7:00 pm. For a complete list of events, please visit www.onebookonemarin.org.
