"String Break" Plays at Piccolo Pavilion on Sunday

"String Break" is a traditional bluegrass band based mostly in Marin County. They play music in the straight-ahead tradition of the pioneering bluegrass bands like Bill Monroe and Flat and Scruggs, while also tipping the hat to the California bluegrass pioneers like Vern Williams. The band features standard acoustic bluegrass instrumentation with lots of three part harmony singing. The present lineup includes Dave Hanks on mandolin, Mike Staninec on guitar, Bruce Thompson on banjo, Ted Garber on dobro and Patti Garber on bass. The band has been together about five years playing gigs around the Bay Area in places like Sweetwater in Mill Valley, Taste of Rome in Sausalito, Jupiter in Berkeley and a number of other places. They have played at Piccolo Pavillion several times and usually draw a nice crowd. It's the last concert this season, so don't miss it!
