Workshop: Printing Techniques with Man-made Materials

PRINTING TECHNIQUES Part II: Block printing with man-made materials.

In this workshop, we'll use sponges, foam, erasers, and other media to create blocks for printing. These can be smaller projects, suitable for printing on eggs (think Easter eggs!), cards, stationery, labels, envelopes, or for letterboxing, but bigger projects are fun, too, like the tissue and wrapping paper.

This class will include samples and demonstrations, but you're encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials. Some of us are looking forward to create a personal "chop" as a signature on cards or other handmade projects.

While we will have some materials, books, and suggestions available, you are encouraged to:

  • BRING paper, tissue, cardboard, blown eggs, or fabric to print on.
  • BRING any stamp (ink) pads that you'd like to share.
  • BRING a small, sharp, cutting tool, like a paring, craft (X-acto), or swiss-army knife
  • BRING printouts or ideas of particular things you'd like to make.

This workshop is FREE to members. PLEASE RSVP by Monday, March 28 to workshops@cmwomensclub.org. Bring lunch if you like; we may go after 1pm if people are having fun and don't want to quit!
