Corte Madera's Il Fornaio Sold to Private-Equity Firm

Business also acquired Arbys, others on same day.

Il Fornaio Corp., including the Italian restaurant chain based in Corte Madera, has been acquired by an Atlanta-based private-equity firm, according to the North Bay Business Journal and other publications.

“Mike Hislop and his outstanding teams at Corner Bakery Cafe and Il Fornaio have built two terrific brands with strong points of differentiation and excellent consumer appeal,” said Neal Aronson, managing partner of Roark said of the chairman and chief executive officer. “We are very excited to partner with Mike to help grow the business.”

Il Fornaio employs about 40 at the Corte Madera corporate office and about 70 at the restaurant in the Corte Madera Town Center, according to the North Bay Business Journal article.

There are no planned changes to the Corte Madera location, according to the article.
