Is Black Friday Shopping For You?

When people start lining up late Thanksgiving night to take advantage of door-buster deals in the wee hours Friday morning, will you be there?

Love it or hate it, Black Friday seems to get bigger every year.

And with its arrival coming on the earliest day possible in 2012, Marin is abuzz, for better or worse, with people talking about the potential savings or lamenting the conspicious consumption Black Friday represents.

After they've poured over the announced bargains various retailers have to offer, many Black Friday fanatics create their own Black Friday “game plans” on what stores to hit and when.

There are those so keen on saving they set alarms to wake them up in the wee hours of the night. These folks line up early and some even camp out all night to be able to scoop up the deals they’re after.

Are you one of those shoppers? Do you do Black Friday or do you prefer to stay as far away from stores on the day after Thanksgiving as possible?

I'm done with Black Friday. I did it a lot 10 years ago. Now, it's just stupid. I'll read the ads today, maybe buy somethings online. Go visit the stores at a reasonable hour.

I have never waited all night in a line for anything, so I don't think I ever will.

I never waited all night. I think I went to a store at 5:30 for a 6:30 opening. My time and health are worth more than a discount on a computer. I wonder if anyone camped at Office Depot last night... nothing like a shootout next door to end the boredom.

I don't believe that creating more consumer debt is actually going to help the economy at all. I have never shopped on a black Friday. This year was a big spending year for me, replacing things that were finally needing upgrading, but I got all my shopping finished in June. And none of anything that I bought was purchased on credit. I decided to work on this black Friday, instead of spending money, I was earning and saving money, now that is helping my economy the most.
