Larkspur and Corte Madera residents can celebrate an evening on the town with a wine tasting, or lessons in love

Here are some of the highlights happening around the Larkspur and Corte Madera Twin Cities area August 29-30:

The Stress Management Center is highlighting some of Jeff Oakes' work during its 3 Thursdays - 3 Originals celebration through August. Thursday's event features live Jazz music from Greg Johnson and displays from Jeff Oakes and Char Maassen Jewelry.

Jeff Oakes Design, which offers handwoven and hand-printed textiles to "promote artisan entrepreneurs in India, Cambodia, Turkey and San Francisco," set up shop at the Stress Management Center of Marin in Larkspur.

A description of the business reads: "By working directly with young artisans and community-based production units he uses his experience in architecture and specialty retail to host design workshops that inspire creativity, innovation and that encourage sustainable business practices."

• Lessons In Love: The information available in the books and computers at the library is nearly endless. The Larkspur Library on Thursday, from 7-8 p.m., will host a different kind of "how-to" lesson, with Cary Valentine.

Valentine, the author of In Love Forever - 7 Secrets to a Joyous Juicy Relationship, will share his expertise in relationships, overcoming hardships and making love last. The free evening is designed for couples and singles.

• Walk For Fun, Exercise: The Larkspur Walkers welcome you to join them Tuesday morning for a walk that starts and finishes at Piper Park. The group walks approximately 3 miles within an hour, and routes include some hills and easements staircases as well as level ground. Meet at the east end of the parking lot, near the picnic area. Arrive 5 minutes early for easy warm-up exercises before the walk. If you would like to join the Larkspur Walkers, contact the Larkspur Recreation Department or come directly to Piper Park. There is a $15 fee.

• Great Grapes: Il Fornaio restaurant in the Town Center is hosting a special evening of wine tasting on Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m. Napa Valley's Beringer wines will be in the spotlight, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and other California varietals. Enjoy wine and food for $75 per person (excluding tax and gratuity).
