Weekender: Holiday Shopping Season In Larkspur, Corte Madera

Here are a few ideas for a fun weekend around the Twin Cities.

Here are some of the highlights happening around the Larkspur and Corte Madera Twin Cities area Nov. 9-11:

Marin Country Mart is preparing for the holiday season as the Erica Tanov Holiday Bazaar pop-up store sets up shop Friday and Saturday. Join the opening celebration today, from 6-9 p.m. with live music, drinks and snacks and a chance to meet the designers of some of the exciting textiles.

Or drop by Saturday while visiting the farmers market, held at Marin Country Mart every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Teen Super Heroes: Here's one for all the fans of super heroes. Alina Chau visits Book Passage in Corte Madera on Saturday at 11 a.m. with her new book The Treehouse Heroes: And the Forgotten Beast. The five teen heroes must save a mystic creature from a powerful general and restore the balance of nature. Chau is a 3D story artist with LucasFilm.

• Children's Storytime: Let's not forget how reading is FUNdamental for children, too. There are a variety of reading groups for young children and their parents around town. Mother Goose is on the loose at the Corte Madera Library every Tuesday at 10 a.m. for storytime for babies 0-24 months old, with a parent or caregiver. The Larkspur Library offers fun for babies and toddlers, with songs, fingerplays, nursery rhymes and very short stories just right for this age group. Pottery Barn Kids, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Book Passage also offer children's storytimes.

• Retirement Planning: “Retirement Planning: How Can you Make Your Money Last?” with Janet Campbell of Abunda Financial. The financial road to and through retirement can be bumpy. How much money do you need to retire? Find answers to this and other questions during the free class Saturday, 11 a.m. to noon at the Larkspur Library.

• Manga, Manga: Children ages 9-13 are invited to join artist Chiyoko Wong at the Corte Madera Library Children's Room on Saturday at 2 p.m. to learn the art of Manga.
