Lappert's gourmet ice creams, founded by Walter Lappert in 1983 on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, are handmade and contain 16 to 18 percent butterfat, compared with the average of about 10 percent in most ice creams.  Lappert’s features exotic flavors from around the world, like guava and macadamia nuts, pineapple, mango, Kona coffee, and coconut to name a few. Other unique flavors like "Kauai Pie" features a mixture of coffee ice cream, chunky macadamia nuts, coconut, and chocolate fudge. Others include Guava Cheesecake, Kona Blue Espresso and Manila Mango. Some of the flavors offered in the Hawaiian Lappert’s are not available here on the mainland, and vice versa, but the same dedication to quality exists in every location.

“Our new location at Town Center is ideal for Lappert’s Ice Cream,” said owner Isaac Lappert, grandson of Lappert’s founder Walter Lappert.  “Our premium ice creams are a delicious and refreshing way to break up a day of shopping and there are flavors that will appeal to all members of the family who shop at Town Center, from kids to grandparents.”

Isaac Lappert’s grandfather, Walter, opened the first Lappert’s Ice Cream on the island of Kauai, in 1983, when he moved to the islands to retire. Noticing the lack of great ice creams and coffees in the Hawaiian Islands, Walter created a business that quickly gained popularity.  Walter’s son (Isaac’s father) Michael, President of Lappert’s Ice Cream, expanded the company by opening his own manufacturing facility in the U.S. in 1984.

A three-generation family owned and operated business, Isaac Lappert began scooping ice cream at the age of 6. When he was 8, he would take the bus from his home in Corte Madera to Sausalito where he worked at his dad’s store on Bridgeway in Sausalito. Now 22, he is the owner of the Lappert’s Ice Cream at Town Center Corte Madera.
