THE KITCHENER COLLECTIVE TO OPEN AT TOWN CENTER CORTE MADERA

Oakland’s commercial kitchen collective opens new store at Town Center featuring baked goods and more by Kitchener Collective artisans

CORTE MADERA, CA (March 31, 2014) –Sophia Chang’s The Kitchener Collective, a commercial kitchen which started in Oakland to give small batch food artisans an affordable location to start their businesses, will open at Town Center Corte Madera in May.  The Kitchener Collective which will open directly across from REI and will showcase a wide variety of baked goods, take ‘n bake meals and other specialty items created by 25 Kitchener food entrepreneurs. The company will also offer regular food demos where people can try items and meet the artisans who crafted them.   www.shoptowncenter.com

The Town Center location for The Kitchener Collective will feature a variety of food items each day. Twenty-five artisan groups will showcase their products  including Argentine empanadas, scones and fresh pies, vegan chocolates, cupcakes, freshly made soup stock, take n’ bake meals such as mac n ’cheese, gumbos, and Trinidadian specialties. In addition The Kitchener Collective will hold regular tasting demos so people can sample the foods and meet the artisans who crafted them.

They’re a perfect complement to the cafes and restaurants at the center.”

The Kitchener Collective is a commercial kitchen for start-up food businesses. Located in Oakland, CA, they first opened their doors in June 2012 and currently host 36 talented micro and small food artisans out of their 1500 square foot kitchen.  In addition to offering these food makers a legal commissary from which to work, they also provide an incubation program to help their businesses grow through business roundtable discussions and brain-exchanges, workshops/seminars, and monthly pop-up markets and socials.

 

Town Center Corte Madera

Town Center Corte Madera, located on the West side of Highway 101 at the Tamalpais Drive exit, has become known as the Marin location for delicious healthy food, specialty clothiers and stores boasting unique home furnishings and gift items.  Throughout the year, the Town Center hosts a number of community driven events like the annual Trick or Treat Day for kids, the world’s largest Thanksgiving turkey which collects donations for Marin Community Food Bank, free holiday gift wrapping by volunteers from Hospice by the Bay, the annual Taste of Town Center event, and the Summer Music Series.
