Fantastic DIY Mother's Day Gift Ideas
This year, grab the kids and make Mom or Grandma a truly unique handmade gift.
Mother's Day is upon us. And while diamonds are a girl's best friend, nothing makes a Mom's heart melt more than a homemade Mother's Day gift.
Here are some easy and super-cute ideas that the kids can make for you (hint, hint) or you can work on together to thrill Grandma.
1. Knitting Party

Pia at Mimi the Sardine in Corte Madera is hosting a Mother/Daughter or Son knitting workshop on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a chance to learn the garter, knit & purl stitches, how to cast on/bind off, about Fibershed yarns & organically grown & dyed local wools from a trained textile engineer.
Make a little something for Mom or Grandma, perhaps a short scarf or a colorful item for the table.

The fee is $45 for two knitters. There will be a tea party during the session.
2. Mother/Daughter Dinner Party and Sleepover
How about speding some quality time with Mom? Like my mom used to tell me, what she really wants is to hear three little words: "Thank you, Mom," or "I Love you."
The Corte Madera Recreation Department is hosting a Mad Hatter dinner party, complete with games, dancing, and a optional sleepover for moms and daughters. The cost is $11 for the dinner party, or $25 for the party and sleepover combined.
The fun starts Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
3. Black and White or Sepia Photo Vases
Better Homes and Gardens shows you how to make a photo vase for Mom. Just print a black and white or sepia photo of you and your Mom, you and the kids, your Mom holding you as a baby or a photo of every generation, and adhere it to the inside of a vase.

4. Love in a Jar
I love this idea from the New Nostalgia blog. She shows you how to write all of the reasons why you love Mom on small slips of paper to put into a decorated Love Jar. On those days when Mom is feeling blue, she can pull out the slips of paper and know that she is loved and appreciated.
