Jazz Night With The Giants

Around Town Feb. 10-12: Redwood High musicians perform at a fundraiser on Friday night; Learn how to create a blog Saturday; Take care of your roses Sunday.

 

• Musicians from Redwood High's Music Department offer up a “Night of Blues” musical fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 10, 7:30-10:30 p.m., at the Hillside Church, 5461 Paradise Drive, Corte Madera. Enjoy snacks, a silent auction and great music. All proceeds benefit Redwood music programs. Tickets are $20 general, $15 seniors 65 or older and $5 for students under 19. • Hey Bloggers! ... And soon-to-be bloggers. Learn the tricks of the trade, how to start a blog, attract readers and more Saturday at Book Passage in Corte Madera. Popular blogger Sophie Epstein, from the young adult book blog MrsMagooReads.com, teams up with her mother Liz Epstein (Jane Austen Literary Salon) to present their continuing blog workshop. New to this workshop, using Blogger.com as a platform, you will receive hands-on help to create your own blog before you leave class, so bring your laptop. Curves Larkspur is opening its doors Friday, Feb. 10., 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for a free open house. All attendees will get a free one-week pass and one lucky winner will get a three-month membership at Curves Larkspur.

Body By X invites the community to check out its expanded gym space on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

• Passion, betrayal and death. ... Straight out of Hollywood? No, this is classic German opera. The Lark Theater will broadcast the Met Opera's production of Gotterdammerung, the intense conclusion of Wagner's epic Ring Cycle, on Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sloat Garden Center in Kentfield will host a pair of classes this weekend. On Saturday, Feb. 11, at noon, learn how to create and care for a terrarium. Class size is limited to 15 people. On Sunday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m., the Marin Rose Society offers tips for pruning, feeding and caring for roses.
