Jumpstart Your Job Hunt

Around Town Feb. 7-8: Get tips to help you land that job during a two-part seminar at Redwood High.

 

• Getting frustrated with your job hunt? The Tamalpais Union High School District's Adult and Community Education program is here to help with "Maximizing Your Job Search," a two-part seminar, to be held Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 7 and 9, from 6-8 p.m. The seminar will be in Room 153 at Redwood High School. The program will include job search strategies, interviews techniques and tips for negotiating salary and benefits. There also will be a resume critique. The Larkspur Walkers welcome you to join them on walks that start and finish at Piper Park. The group walks approximately 3 miles within an hour, and routes include some hills and easements staircases as well as level ground.  Meet at the east end of the parking lot, near the picnic area. Arrive 5 minutes early for easy warm-up exercises before the walk. If you would like to join the Larkspur Walkers, contact the Larkspur Recreation Department or come directly to Piper Park and ask for Nancy Spivey, leader of the group.

• Just in time for Valentine's Day, neuroscientist Dr. Amir Levine and social psychologist Rachel S.F. Heller discuss the book Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find—and Keep—Love. The evening, Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Marin Jewish Community Center, is sponsored by Book Passage.

• HICAP, a non-profit organization, dedicated to education about Medicare, will explain Medicare from the beginning. The seminar will be held at Aegis Living in Corte Madera at 5555 Paradise Drive on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m.

• Children through age 30 months and their caregivers are invited to hang out at the Larkspur Library for a half-hour storytime Tuesday. The Baby Bounce is a lively mix of songs, nursery rhymes, fingerplays and very short books.
