Public Gets Laugh At Burglar's Lawsuit Against His Victim

Convicted burglar Sam Cutrufelli's lawsuit against Greenbrae's Jay Leone is turning into a hot-button topic. What's your thought?

Samuel Cutrufelli must have a lot of "hutzpah" to sue the victim of a home invasion robbery, according to one person. Cutrufelli's lawyer claims the criticism is "unfair," according to media reports.

Cutrufelli was convicted on Oct. 31 in a Marin County court of burglary and attempted murder on 90-year-old Greenbrae resident Jay Leone.

Twin Cities Police said Cutrufelli broke into Leone's home in the 300 block of Via La Cumbre on Jan. 4. Leone surprised him while Cutrufelli was searching for valuables, but Cutrufelli detained him at gunpoint. Leone convinced Cutrufelli to let him go to the bathroom, where he grabbed a revolver, then returned and shot him three times.

Cutrufelli filed a lawsuit on Oct. 25 against Leone claiming negligence.
