Marin Supe Announces Reelection Bid

Susan Adams’ political enemies will get their chance to unseat the Marin County District supervisor after all.

The survivor of a failed recall effort over the summer announced on Friday that she’ll seek another term.

“I took some time to reflect, to focus on working for my constituents, and to speak with residents and supporters,” Adams said in a prepared statement.

“Ultimately, I decided I still have work to do and more service to give my community.”

San Rafael residents Allissa Chacko and Carol Joyce Sheerin spearheaded the recall drive.

“This is definitely not an attack on Ms. Adams’ personally,” Checko said earlier this year. “This is an attack on how she has been representing her constituents in the last 10 years.”

But Checko’s group couldn’t convince 6,368 district voters to sign on for their attack in time before a Sept. 17 petition deadline that would have triggered a recall.

Adams’ district covers most of greater San Rafael including downtown and central San Rafael.

“I’m excited about this,” Adams said in a prepared statement. “I’m eager to launch our new campaign, discuss all the issues and to continue to move our district and county forward into a brighter tomorrow.”

Former Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey is among the first to announce her endorsement of Adams.

“Susan Adams has done a great job for the people she works for, with a tremendous record of accomplishments,” Woolsey said in a prepared statement.

“Her reelection will continue to more than benefit her district. I wholeheartedly support her.”
