Booksellers will read aloud from Llama Llama and the Bully Goat by Anna Dewdney. In the story, Llama Llama is learning lots of new things at school and making many friends. But when Gilroy Goat starts teasing him and some of their classmates, Llama Llama isn't sure what to do. And then he remembers what his teacher told him –walk away and tell someone. It works! But then Llama Llama feels badly. Can he and Gilroy try to be friends again?

Additional picture books slated to be read during the event include One by Kathryn Otoshi and Purplicious by Victoria Kann. Both books give readers a way to experience and discuss bullying in a safe and comforting way.

Following storytime, children will be invited to participate in a kindness craft encouraging children to share what acts of kindness they’d like to give and receive in the coming week. Booksellers will also invite children and parents to enjoy treats from the Barnes & Noble Café.

“It’s so important to let children know about ways to handle bullying or name calling,” said Sarah DiFrancesco, Vice President of Business Development for Barnes & Noble.  “This Storytimes is designed to encourage children to be kind to one another, not allow others to be bullied or called names, and to walk away and tell an adult if they find themselves in a bullying situation. Our 40,000 booksellers are proud to stand together in the fight against bullying and name calling by hosting this important Storytime.”

The Kindness Matters Storytime event is free and open to the public.  For further details, contact any Barnes & Noble store, or visit the Barnes & Noble Store Locator.
