Bedtime Math Glow Party at B&N

Barnes & Noble Corte Madera will Throw a Glow Party In Celebration of Bedtime Math’s Second Book Release

Barnes & Noble Corte Madera is partnering with Bedtime Math, a nonprofit dedicated to getting kids to love math the way they love their favorite bedtime story, to throw a Glow-in-the-Dark Party on Friday, March 14th at 7pm.

The event is part of a nationwide initiative from March 11-15 in which bookstores across the country will help make math come alive for kids as they gather to tackle offbeat math riddles from Bedtime Math founder Laura Overdeck’s second book, Bedtime Math 2: This Time It’s Personal, to be released on March 11, 2014.

At the party, kids will build geometric creations with glowsticks and styrofoam balls, which look electrifying when the lights go out. The party is a free, family-friendly event aimed at children ages 3-9, but anyone can join in the fun.

Just like its first best-selling book, Bedtime Math: A Fun Excuse to Stay up Late, Bedtime Math’s newest release will allow parents to reach for kid-appealing math riddles, just as they would reach for a picture book, as a way to bring math to life in a kid-appealing way. There are four levels of questions suited to different learning levels: Wee Ones (preschool), Little Kids (K-2), Big Kids (3-5) and Bonus (kids and parents alike). Each presents a fun story and wacky trivia that kids can look forward to, and introduces numbers in a way children can’t resist.

Founder Laura Overdeck first launched the idea online in February 2012, serving up wacky nightly math problems on topics kids love, from flamingos to frogs to roller coasters. Since its start, the daily math has garnered more than 50,000 loyal fans of its email and Facebook page and nearly half a million unique visitors to its site. Bedtime Math also produced four zany math videos on YouTube and released a free mobile app for iPhone and Android, now ranked one of the top educational apps for kids.

The Bedtime Math Glow-in-the-Dark Party is free and open to the public. About Bedtime Math

Bedtime Math is a nonprofit organization that seeks to put the fun and discovery back into learning math. Its core product is a zany daily online math problem that parents can do with their kids, to make nightly math as common and beloved as the bedtime story. Bedtime Math has since expanded to create lively math experiences for kids at home, in libraries and in after-school programs nationwide. For more information, please visit www.bedtimemath.org.
