Corte Madera, CA, November 2013– Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), one of the nation’s largest booksellers and the leading retailer of content, digital media and educational products, announced today that the Barnes & Noble store located at Corte Madera, California will invite customers to share the joy of reading with the launch of the annual Holiday Book Drive, taking place November 1 to January 1.  The Holiday Book Drive provides an opportunity for customers to donate books to children in need through locally designated non-profit organizations.

Many Holiday Book Drive recipients are schools, libraries, literacy organizations, family social service agencies and homeless centers.  This year, Barnes & Noble Corte Madera, located at 313 Corte Madera Town Center will be collecting books for Timothy Murphy School at Saint Vincent’s School for Boys.

Timothy Murphy School strives to “meet the special education needs of St. Vincent’s residents and day students within the Marin Community with serious, academic, emotional and behavioral challenges, with a structured educational program and nurturing environment which addresses the academic, which addresses the academic, behavioral and community life skills of [the students].” You can find out more about Timothy Murphy School at www.timothymurphyschool.org. Saint Vincent’s School for Boys is a “licensed, residential treatment home for ages 7-17, [offering] housing and care that is one level under a psychiatric hospital's. During its 2012 Holiday Book Drive, Barnes & Noble collected and donated more than 1.5 million books to more than 2,000 local charities across the country that provide services to children. The donation was made possible through the generous support of Barnes & Noble customers, NOOK® lovers and enthusiastic booksellers.

“For more than 20 years, Barnes & Noble customers and employees have demonstrated their holiday spirit and support for children who are less fortunate through the Holiday Book Drive,” said Laurel Kidd, Community Relations Manager for Barnes & Noble Corte Madera.  “The Barnes & Noble Holiday Book Drive is a treasured tradition for everyone in our stores and a wonderful way for customers and booksellers to give the gift of reading to children in our community.”
