LARKSPUR THROUGH THE EYES OF AN ARTIST: PAINTINGS BY BRYN CRAIG
January 24 through March 5, 2013
Larkspur’s Gallery Bergelli presents an exhibition of recent paintings of Larkspur by Bryn Craig. The featured new painting of the iconic Lark Theater is a testament to the spirit of the town that "saved" the single screen, Art Deco theater. Other paintings include the Left Bank, Silver Peso Bar, St. Patrick’s Church, and well-known Larkspur landmarks. Together, these paintings represent Larkspur as a whole. Craig works from photographs of the area and although his style is realistic, it is far from photorealism.
Born in 1931 in Lansdale, PA, he studied at the Philadelphia Museum College of Art, the Art Students League of New York, and taught at the Philadelphia Museum College of Art. Mr. Craig has been a Marin resident since 1978.
A portion of the exhibition proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Lark Theater in honor of late founding director Bernice Baeza.
