Yoga for Girls at Larkspur Recreation

The pre-teen years are fraught with physical and emotional changes, academic and social challenges, and media pressures that can lead to anxiety, confusion, and frustration. Yoga is a non-competitive physical and mental practice that teaches techniques for relaxation and stress management; enhances flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination; improves body awareness, posture, and self esteem; and encourages self-expression. All of these benefits will empower girls to navigate life’s challenges with greater ease while developing a healthy body image. Jen Lanciault is both a Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher (RYT500) and a certified children's yoga instructor. Customized to meet the needs of all ages and abilities, her classes calm the mind, relax and strengthen the body, and soothe the nerves. Teaching at a deeper level than simply asana, or physical movement, Jen focuses on the union of body and mind via breath and mindfulness. Through detailed alignment instruction and intelligent sequencing, all parts of the body are strengthened and stretched in a safe and balanced way. Her style is primarily vinyasa flow, but she blends various teachings from the Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Viniyoga styles. This class is for girls in 2nd-6th grades. Registration required before start of class
