PROGRAM: The Village Concept - Helping Seniors ‘Age In Place’
Seniors face challenges as they age, but rather than moving to a facility that provides services, many want to stay in their own homes, in familiar surroundings and among neighbors and friends. The “Village” movement addresses a variety of seniors’ needs and has swept across the nation. New “villages” are being developed here in Marin, enabling seniors to age in their homes with grace, confidence, and peace of mind.
Representatives from MARIN VILLAGE will explain what it’s all about and how it works. Services are practical as well as social, and there is a substantial volunteer component, so some people may want to help “pay it forward” and volunteer within the oganization. Marin Village can help members with transportation, assist with daily activities and run errands. Whether it is offering yoga classes at a discount, a ride to a doctor’s appointment or the grocery store, changing an out-of-reach lightbulb, weeding the garden, finding a babysitter for the grandchildren, or help solving a computer problem, Marin Village can help.
Villages are forming all around the U.S., so come find out about it at this informative presentation – for yourself or someone local, and for other locations in the United States, too.
