House Hunt: Mark Your Calendar For Fair Housing Seminar

Here are some of the properties around the Larkspur and Corte Madera areas that are on the market.

It's important for property renters and buyers to know their rights, so it's just as important for real estate professionals to know what's required of them under state and federal fair housing laws.

Fair Housing of Marin is presenting a “Fair Housing Law and Practice” seminar for the rental housing industry Wednesday, September 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Novato Oaks Inn (Oaks room), 215 Alameda del Prado, Novato.

The seminar is directed to property owners and managers, on-site apartment managers, real estate professionals, affordable housing staff and other housing providers and it addresses property owners’ rights and responsibilities under federal, state and county fair housing laws, and how to establish policies to ensure equal opportunity and prevent potential legal problems.

There is a $65 fee for the three-hour course, which is approved for 3 hours of continuing education credit, under the category of Fair Housing by the California Department of Real Estate.

The event is supported by the Marin County Task Force on Housing Discrimination and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and co-sponsored by the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, Bay Area Chapter.
