What You Missed Last Week:

Hanna | Starring Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana, and Cate Blanchett

Hanna is the story of a 16-year-old girl named... you guessed it, Hanna, who is played by Saoirse Ronan. She’s trained to be the perfect assassin by her father played by Eric Bana. Hanna finds herself being tracked down by an intelligence agent played by the always fantastic Cate Blanchett.

When first going into the film, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the opening sequence. I didn’t watch a full trailer nor read any reviews prior to viewing the film so I had no expectations, which is something I feel most folks should do before going in a movie. But what one should expect from Hanna is while not perfect, it’s a well crafted action thriller with strong performances, especially from Cate Blanchett in what I believe one of her best and creepiest performances to date. One scene that has Blanchett’s character brushing her teeth should pretty much explain everything about her character.

I don’t want to give too much away of the plot, but if you’re a fan of such films as the Bourne Identity but with a twist, you’ll appreciate Hanna. Rent it now on DVD or Blu-Ray at Bette’s Flicks.
