This is a precious story about a child ‘s first night with his brand new puppy. Meet Henry whose parents are pretty clear about the new rules with the puppy. Henry will be walking and feeding Charley everyday and Charley will be sleeping in the kitchen each night. The story begins with Henry carrying Charley home in the snow in his old baby blanket. Once he gets home he shows Charley all around the house. But Henry is so excited to have his very own puppy that he isn’t quite sure what to do when Charley’s first night in the kitchen doesn’t go like it should.
The soft illustrations are done in pencil and watercolor. This book just warms my heart because it shows the love between a child and a first pet and the excitement that comes along with it.
