Take A Literary Passage With An Elf On A Shelf

Around Town Dec. 12-13: What's happening in your neighborhood this week?

• Elf on The Shelf author Carol Aebersold is at Pottery Barn Kids in The Village from 10 a.m.-Noon on Monday, Dec. 12 for a special book signing.

• Have you ever thought while riding in an elevator what it takes to make a building thousands of feet tall? Kate Ascher's The Heights: Anatomy of a Skyscraper takes a look at skyscrapers from around the world. How are they made to withstand high winds? How is water pumped to the top floor? How safe are they these days? Ascher brings her architectural tour to Book Passage in Corte Madera at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12.

• Author Peter Orner discusses his latest novel Love and Shame and Love on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Book Passage in Corte Madera. The story covers four decades in Alexander Popper's life, detailing the character's childhood and rise to adulthood and all the emotions that go with growing up.
