CORTE MADERA LIBRARY BEGINS REMODELING PROJECT

Corte Madera Library to be remodelled.

The Marin County Free Library has begun the process of remodeling and updating several of its branches, including the Corte Madera Library.  Funds for these projects were provided by Measure A, passed by the voters in June, 2010.

The Corte Madera Library recently celebrated its 40th year in its present site.  A  lot has changed in the library world since 1972, and the needs and expectations of our community are quite different now.  Libraries today need to be effective community spaces, accessible, efficient, and flexible in order to meet the demands of the present day and into the future.

Group 4, a Bay Area architecture firm with experience designing and remodeling over 200 libraries, is currently working on designs for the projects. The Library’s goals for the project  are to assure that patrons can quickly locate popular new materials, they will easily receive staff assistance, and library functions will become more efficient.  When the project is completed—possibly by the beginning of next year--you can expect a new look when you enter the Library.
