The American Library Association sponsors an annual drive in September to encourage everyone to get a library card.
Here are some of the things your free library card will allow you to do:
Check out books, magazines, compact discs, and DVDs
Request materials from many libraries throughout California and Nevada through Link+.
- Use the Library’s computers for up to two hours a day
- Download electronic books, audios, and films from home
Access subscription online resources for research and learning, such as the Mango language learning system, Ebscohost magazine database, and many more.
All of these services are free to library cardholders.
You can sign up for a library card online at marinet.lib.ca.us; click on “Get a Library Card.” Your e-card allows you instant access to the library’s online services, including subscription databases. When you visit the Library, a full-service library card will be issued to you. Or of course you can visit the Library and get a card in person. A picture ID with your current address or a picture ID and some other proof of address (utility bill, rental agreement) are required.
