Born in Massachusetts, Sullivan went to Georgetown University and later served as a Special Agent with the FBI for 35 years, serving in Denver, Houston, and San Francisco. He served in the San Rafael Resident Agency office of the FBI beginning in 1957 until his retirement in 1975, according to the IJ.
Sullivan was a member of the Elks Club, Society of Former Agents of the FBI, Georgetown University Alumni Association, Peacock Gap Golf and Country Club, and Marin Breakfast Club, according to the obituary.
