Former Marin IJ Reporter Loses Battle With ALS

James Kimo Campbell passes away at age 65.

James Kimo Campbell, whose Pohaku Fund supported various community groups, passed away at age 65 from complications from ALS.

Campbell was a student at College of Marin and went on to UC Berkeley. He later served four terms on the Marin Community College Board.

He worked for a time at the Marin Independent Journal and later established Pueo Press, a small publishing house which focused on Hawaiian culture and history, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

He is survived by his wife Kerry Tepperman Campbell of San Rafael and his two children.
