It’s that time of year again when we focus on thankfulness. Of course, it is extremely valuable to focus on what we appreciate all year long. When we appreciate any and every little thing, we find more and more things to appreciate and life gets sweeter and more joyful.
I am feeling joyful in the anticipation of my 10 year old grandson, Evan, coming for Thanksgiving again this year. We will be a small group for thanksgiving dinner but there will be a lot of good food, love and fun. Evan enjoys helping me prepare meals. He likes chopping, mixing, or any task I send his way. It is always more fun in the kitchen when he is there. And, of course, there will be art activities.
I appreciate living in this beautiful part of the world and particularly Marin County with all its natural beauty and wonderful people. I enjoy our proximity to the amazing city of San Francisco and all it offers. Last week my husband and I ventured to the Orpheum Theater to see a colorful and innovative production of The Lion King.

I appreciate the opportunity to write this “For the LOVE of Kids” column and all the adorable, smart and funny kids I meet. They are always so willing to share their ideas and pose for pictures while they are participating in fun local activities. There are always so many fun activities for kids and adults at the Marin Country Mart Farmers Markets on Saturdays from 9 am – 2 pm. Bon Air Center in Greenbrae has wonderful holiday activities for kids, and friendly merchants.
Town Center and The Village are bustling shopping centers filled with diverse stores. Children love the play area at the Village near the new Pottery Barn Kids store and all the fun fountains found throughout the mall. The Elephant fountain near the food area and the large fountain near Barnes and Nobles at Town Center are always surrounded by children enjoying the sound and flow of its waters. They stand in awe and inevitably reach down to touch the water and cast pennies while making a wish.

There is so much to appreciate in our individual lives and all that is around us. And, the little ones in our lives often highlight the joy in each moment. They are able to be present and focus on what matters most. It is a wonderful lesson and reminder for all of us.
