Labrador Retriever Again Tops Most Popular Breed List – What's the Most Popular Dog in Marin?

The mighty bulldog pushes its way into the Top 5 of the American Kennel Club's annual list that gets everyone talking. Post your photos of your favorite breed!

The American Kennel Club released its annual list of the most popular breeds in America, and for the 22nd year in a row, the Labrador retriever claims the top spot.

The 2012 Top Ten list had a few shake-ups, as the Yorkshire terrier dropped to sixth place and the bulldog moved into fifth. The golden retriever and beagle also swapped spots between 2011 and 2012.

"Bigger breeds are making their move," said AKC Spokesperson Lisa Peterson in a press release. "The popularity of the pint-sized, portable pooch just gave way to a litter of larger breeds in the Top 10. These predictable, durable, steady breeds, like Labs and Goldens, are great with kids and offer the whole family more dog to love.

Chihuahua didn't make the list? I see them everywhere. I had a Rott/Lab mix and a pure Rottie. Both rescue dogs. Personalities are more like a lab than people think. Really sweet dogs. Lab mix and a beagle now. Beagles are mini hounds. Cute and will try your patience.

My favorite dog breed is Shiba Inu... but they are not for everyone. They are strange little aliens, half human and half cat-like dog. My son calls our dog a Samurai, because he is so tough and afraid of nothing, I call him a Ninja because he is so sneaky and quiet, and most everyone that meets him calls him a lover. I also love German Shepperds and like just about any dog that doesn't want to bite me.

People who love dogs come from all walks of life. It is a shared feeling that brings people together. Whether you are on a trail, in a neighborhood or visiting a dog park, it makes you part of a group of people who share a common connection that brings joy and love into your life.

While someone else might be flattered getting stalked from thread to thread, I find it creepy. How about we agree to disagree and leave it at that?

Get used to it Tina. The zombie pimps with no names on the developers' payroll follow me everywhere, trying to scare me off the track. They even look up my personal financial data and post it on the net, but I don't be scared off by 'their tactics.
