Support The March Against Cancer

People and dogs can join in the fight this month with two special Relay for Life events.

Happy anniversary!

On July 30 of last year, I was sharing a towering wedding cake with my beloved Tracy and a special group of friends at the Novato Relay for Life. The very next day Tracy and I got married in a special ceremony in the winner's circle during the NHRA drag races at Race Sonoma.

So, here we are celebrating a year together, celebrating another year of birthdays and anniversaries. I'm looking forward to another special celebration this year with the San Rafael Relay for Life on August 25 at College of Marin's Kentfield campus.

By the way, plan a party, grab some burgers and support the Mill Valley Chapter, OES Team by eating at Wipeout at the Bon Air Center in Greenbrae, on August 15.

Before we get to the San Rafael Relay for Life, there is another special event for another group. The inaugural Bark for Life brings dog walking to a whole new level on August 19, 8 a.m., at the Field of Dogs on Civic Center Drive in San Rafael. The fee is $20 for the first dog and $5 for each additional dog per owner. The American Cancer Society bills the relay as "A canine event to fight cancer."

We are reminded that even pets get cancer, as much as we'd like to think they are immune to it. Our pets can be our closest friends, even family, and we'll do anything to help them beat this disease.
